Mention the name Tony Leodora in the Delaware Valley and everyone has an opinion. But unlike many personalities all sing his praises.
Leodora has reported on the Delaware Valley golf scene for more than 30 years, in newspapers, on the radio and television airwaves. A former sports editor, Leodora has covered numerous major golf championships over the years, and has broadcast on site from everywhere from the PGA Merchandise Show to the United States Open.
His GolfTalk Life show on Newstalk 990, WNTP, has won national awards, as have his segments on such golf television shows as Inside Golf.
Never one who resists or dislikes change, the Norristown native has a new endeavor that is tantalizing area golf fantatics: the Traveling Golfer series of video features from throughout the world of golf.
We caught up with Leodora recently in Florida, and the guy with the effervescent smile gave a summary of the Traveling Golfer show.
"I've been lucky to have been able to visit golf courses throughout the world, visiting wonderful locations," said Leodora, a favorite emcee and after dinner speaker and sometimes singer when prompted. "I run into a lot of people in the course of my travels, and they all ask about this destination or that destination. Places to visit with the family and enjoy golf, or to be immersed in golf. So the idea was simple: package that information that is of interest to all golfers."
Leodora has a wealth of experience in the world of golf. A long-time member of the Philadelphia Sports Writers Association and Golf Writers Association of America, he's also a past president of the International Network of Golf. Along the way he has played on more than 750 golf courses in 35 states and 15 countries.
"The allure of playing golf on the road never gets old. It is part of the intoxicating attraction of the game of golf," said Leodora. "With the Traveling Golfer our goal is to transfer a bit of that excitement to other golfers through these videos."
The Traveling Golfer is a regular feature for www.golfbuckscounty.com, and promises to be one of our most lively and interactive features. We're all about golf, and the Traveling Golfer fits out reader's objectives and desires to the tee.
Viewers will follow Leodora in his travels, as the Traveling Golfer will appear as a series of monthly shows. At the start the network Traveling Golfer host websites will reach more than 100,000 monthly visitors. Mystic Dunes was a great opening segment of the show, because golfers are always asking about golf destinations in the Orlando area. Koch designed a playable, fun course, but the resort also features excellent accomodations, dining and amenities.
Getting a hole-in-one might be the most difficult feat to attain, but finding a place to get that coveted shot is as close as watching the Traveling Golfer. Enjoy!
