Middletown Country Club

Middletown is a compact 80 acres of challenging golf, with rolling hills and large specimen trees that have watched many golfers travel its fairways over time. It has retained its old time feel with tees and greens in close proximity, allowing golfers to walk the course if they choose.

Herr 2nd in Pa. Junior Championship

New Hope's Zachary Herr came within a whisker of claiming the 59th Pennsylvania Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship Tuesday, battling RiverCrest's Tucker Koch into a sudden death playoff.

 

Koch won the state championship for boys ages 14-17 with a victory on the first playoff hole.   Herr, playing out of Jericho National, posted rounds of 70 and 73 for a one-over-par 143 at the Hershey Country Club to get into the playoff. Koch posted a 69-74-143.

Blue Heron Pines: Simply Marvelous

Back in 1993 it was a different time on the South Jersey public golf scene.

 

There were nice "local courses" like Brigantine, Avalon, Atlantis and Mays Landing. Nice golf, to be sure, but not extremely special.

 

Then owner Roger Hansen unveiled the brand spanking new, upscale, Blue Heron Pines. The new kid on the block was met with great reviews. The Stephen Kay design was challenging and a whole lot of fun.
